The Elite: written by Kiera Cass
Book Two of The Selection trilogy
WARNING: SPOILERS INCLUDED
If you've read the book already, then you may continue. But if you haven't read it yet, then you face a terrible terrible thing. Spoilers. If you're a brave soul who dares venture into uncharted territories, proceed with caution.
The Elite is basically a continuation of Book One: The
Selection, by Kiera Cass. The Selection is down to 6 girls from the original handpicked 35: Marlee, Natalie, Celeste, Elise, Kris, and America. They automatically were made into Threes, whether or not they win.
The story's plot is about how America deals with her relationships. She starts to see Maxon in a different light, one where she has to choose between him, and Aspen Leger. Aspen was trained and made into a palace guard, automatically a Two by caste standards. America faces the feelings she has worked hard to push away.
America's feelings for Maxon grow deeper, (and vice versa) and from here, the reader can already make a guess that she is the girl he'll pick. I don't know for sure. America and Maxon then find out from Gregory Illea's forbidden books about Halloween and have a grand celebration. The Elite's families are invited and they all have one of the grandest (and the first) Halloween parties since the Fourth World War.
Though the day after, something happens and they are down to five.
They have to face that what what one of their competitors did was appropriate of caning. They will never be the same, so a few weeks after the incident they were faced with the unavoidable task of organizing balls for the foreign allies of Illea, Germany and Italy.
The attacks from the Southern rebels get more desperate and brutal, taking more lives than ever before. They get more violent as the time for the choosing gets nearer, as the time for Maxon to choose his bride as the king and queen's eventual successors. The Southerners kill one of the Elite's sister.
And just like that, four remain. The Northern rebels prove to be allies more than they are threats. They are after something more, something that goes deeper into the history of Illea.
Americas unravels the truth about Gregory Illea, and secrets she would have never expected to exist. About their country, the world she didn't know to have existed, and Maxon.
It's all just a bomb of emotions and excitement waiting to be detonated.
